What is fedistats?

Fedistats shows trending topics and articles on the fediverse. I started the project in January 2023. It listens to the live mastodon stream and collects trending articles and hashtags. Fedistats is great if you want to follow a topic or want to know what is happening without reading through all the messages.

Which hashtags are trending on the fediverse?

Find the current hashtag trends under the Trends tabs. These filter out recurring daily and weekly trends. Mastodon itself does not do a great job at filtering out weekly trends so that trends are often dominated by weekly recurring hashtag games. You can also search hashtags to filter down on specific topics.

Find the articles everyone is talking about.

The Search tab lets you search for websites, or keywords. Fedistats gives you a realtime view of what people are talking about. The search results are sorted by how often the articles are mentioned.

Automatically track topics.

Sometimes, a topic is ongoing and coming back to fedistats to check is still too tedious. For that, Topics allow you to automatically track a search and collect new articles and send out daily email newsletters. Never miss an article again!

Which mastodon node to pick?

When you want to join mastodon, the first question is which nodes to pick. Fedistats has a mastodon node directory which shows live daily stats. You can see how many active users, daily posts, hashtags are posted and which languages dominate. Or you can explore the nodes by language.
