These people went home from a canceled demonstration because they didn’t feel safe with the presence of police on campus. Taking the history of police violence against pro Palestine activists into account, we decided to cancel the demonstration of today. After they got on the bus to go home what was supposed to be ‘safe’, they got arrested. This blatant act of racial profiling cannot be ignored. Wearing cultural or political symbols is not a crime, and targeting individuals for their heritage or expression is an attack on basic freedoms. Our statement on this will follow. We refuse to stay silent. Join us tomorrow at 11.30 AM for a noise demo in front of the police station to demand justice and accountability.
